Susie graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She was active with the Navy wives organizations in the many locations the family was stationed, while raising her four children. After the untimely death of her husband, Susie moved back to Evansville and worked for the University of Evansville as Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Assistant to the Dean of the Evening College. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the food pantry, and served on Parish Council and Diocesan Pastoral Council. Susie was a member of the Bruté Society. She was a 20-year docent at the Evansville Museum, serving as president for 2 years.
She is survived by her children Rick (Roxanne) Fox of Dallas, TX, Liz (Dennis) Miles of Eldorado, IL, Bob (Robin) Fox of Indianapolis, and Sally (Paul) Hudson of Colleyville, TX; grandchildren, Kirsten (Kyle) Conrad, Justin Stovall, Adam Fox, Matthew (Kaleigh) Miles, Sarah (Matt) Keltner, Megan (John) Moseley, Lindsay (Skot) George, Kelsey Fox, Jeff (Erin) Hudson, Andrew (Kelsee) Hudson; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 stepdaughters, Shirlene (Fred) Mott, Jana (Dave) Morris, and Sharla Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cmdr. Richard V. Fox; parents, Leo (Margaret) Wittgen; and sister, Nancy Burks DeVoe.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 613 Cherry Street, Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Stephen Lintzenich and Father Eugene Schmitt officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
