Joseph Meyer was born 7 Mar 1901 in Elsass, Ukraine the son of Michael Maier and Magdalena Dietz. He immigrated to Canada with in parents and siblings in 1914 at first to Canada then in a short time to Richardton, ND. His father died in 1917 and Joe went to live with his sister Barbara on a farm in Blumenfeld near Orrin, ND. The next farm to the north was the Gabriel Volk farm and one of the daughters was Marianna Volk whom Joe married on 24 Jun 1935.
They had 4 children George 1936, Marilyn 1941, Michael 1946 and Joseph in 1951 all born in Rugby, ND.
