Hubert "Jay" Carlton of Boomer passed away January 8, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist- Wilkes Medical Center.
Jay was born November 19, 1947, in Watauga County to Gaither Wiley and Lucy Robbins Carlton.
Jay was a volunteer fireman with Goshen and Ferguson fire departments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Baumgarner Carlton; three sisters, Rosalee Watson, Violet Hamby, Pearlee Shipley; and a brother, Robert "Vaughn" Carlton.
He is survived by a daughter, Tracy Marley (Lee) of Boomer; a son, Jason Carlton (Melissa Smithey) of North Wilkesboro; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Marlene Marley (Charles "Pat") of Ferguson, and Irene Lewis of Boone.
Funeral service will be held at Beaver Creek Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.
