Sydney W. Thomas, 65, of 1372 Pheasant Run, Rockledge, Fla., died Friday of natural causes at Westhoff Memorial Hospital in Rockledge. He was the husband of E. Lorraine Thomas. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Martha Fry Thomas of Lancaster and the late Martin R. Thomas. He was a 1946 graduate of McCaskey High School. He served with the U.S. Navy and, later, the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring in 1967 as an E7-chief yeoman. He also worked for the U.S. Post Office in Howell, NJ, until 1978. Thomas was a charter member of the Howell, NJ, Elks Club and a member of the American Legion in Rockledge, the Retired Enlisted Association and the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers. He also served as president of the Howell Southern Little League for eight years. Surviving besides his wife and mother are two sons, Sydney W. Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., and Victor P. of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a sister, Roberta Brandt of Lancaster; and a brother, Kenneth of Morrison, Colo. (Lancaster New Era - Dec 6, 1994)
