Rudolph L. "Rudy" Spielvogel, 76, died in Jameson Memorial Hospital.

Parents: Rudolph and Johanna Frank Spielvogel. His father died in 1971. His mother died in 1994.

Wife: Dorothy Jean Paul, married on Jan. 29, 1955.

He was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School. A Korean War veteran, he was a sergeant serving from Nov. 25, 1952, to Nov. 24, 1954. He was with the 5th Regimental Combat Team in Korea and received one bronze service star. He worked for G.K. Garrett Co. and MSL Stamping in Ellwood City, where he was a supervisor in the finishing department and quality control manager. He also was the vice president of Spielvogel Enterprises and was a sales representative for 26 years for the Bargain Bulletin weekly paper. He also sold insurance for the Alliance of Transylvania Saxons. He was past commander of VFW Post 252; commander of American Legion Post 157 in 2005-2006; and member of Ellwood Masonic Lodge 599; Knights of Columbus Council 11389; Ellwood City Saxons Club, where he was president, recording secretary and financial secretary; Moose Lodge 93; and the 5th RCT Association. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in their athletic events, and going for lunch at Challenges. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church.

Relatives: a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Jackson of Chippewa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rudy and Loretta Spielvogel of New Castle, and Ken and Bianca Spielvogel of Virginia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Bernard and Carol Spielvogel of Columbia, S.C., and Dr. Jack and Diane Spielvogel of State College, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Harold Cole of Ellwood City; a sister-in-law, Pam Spielvogel of Michigan; and four grandchildren, Jessica Spielvogel, Rudy Spielvogel, Rose Spielvogel and Ahren Spielvogel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dave Spielvogel; a brother in infancy, Frank Spielvogel; and a daughter in infancy, Laurie Spielvogel.
