Funeral service for Albert I. "Doc" Bauer, DVM, South Pine Street, New Smyrna Beach, who died Tuesday April 1, 2008, will be 3:15 PM Sunday April 6, at First Baptist Church of Edgewater with Rick Norman officiating. Note: Change of location. The family will receive friends from 2 pm until service time Sunday. Private committal will be at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery.

Doc was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was recruited to play football for West Point. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with degrees in Business Administration, Animal Husbandry and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicene from the University of Ohio.

He held professional memberships in Association of American Equine Practice, Florida Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinarian Medical Association.

He is survived by a son, Burt (Susan) Bauer; two grandchildren, Luke and Hannah Bauer, all of new Smyrna Beach; his loving dog, Roxy; and a host of friends throughout the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; daughter, Barbara; and sister, Betty Alcorn.

Memorials are requested to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 South Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. 32168.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Audrey S. Bauer, 79, of South Pine Street, a retired public school teacher for 53 years, 40 of those at Reed-Patillo Elementary School, died Saturday at Oceanview Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bauer, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, was born in Cincinnati and moved here in 1962 from Columbus, Ohio. She attended Edgewater First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Albert; a son, Burt, New Smyrna Beach; a sister, Jacqueline Schnitker and two grandchildren.
