Mary Catherine (Kay) Mendez passed away at 5:28 am on October 4, 2023. She had just turned 98 years old on August 31st. She was a wonderful, beautiful mother who will be greatly missed by her son Donald Mendez Almeida (Geri) and her daughters Linda Lester (Phillip), Susan Gromak (Jim), Michele Mendez, Toni Patterson (Alan), and Janie McNeeley (Randy). Kay has 13 grandchildren who adored her. Their names are Nathan, Elizabeth, Tamara, Aaron, Alex, Beki, Seth, Rachel, Christie, Adam, Tiffany, Haley, and Zach. Kay had many great grandchildren. They will miss her terribly. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren (Bud) Mendez and firstborn son James Mendez. Kay was the youngest of 20 children born to her parents John and Antoinette Stangl. She grew up in Iowa, moved to Holly in her early 20's and lived the rest of her life in Holly.
