David Julius Stender, age 63, passed away October 21, 2023. He lived courageously while dealing with cancer. David was born on July 26, 1960 in Glencoe, MN. David was a man of few words, but had a knack for witty responses and a clever sense of humor, much like his Dad, Julius. David enjoyed gardening, cooking, following local sports, woodworking, and occasional road trips with a good friend. He enjoyed many years and memories at his lake cabin near Vergas, MN. In his own way, David showed great appreciation for those who helped him when he needed it.
David was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Gert Stender. He is survived by 9 siblings: Shelah (Bob) Burandt of Waconia, Doug (Carol) Stender of Fergus Falls, Lowell (Mary) Stender of Norwood Young America, Tom Stender of Eden Prairie, Debby (Ron) Miller of Waconia, Lynn (Jim) Vos of Green Isle, Kim Stender of Eden Prairie, Mike (Lisa) Stender of Buffalo and Julie (Edward) McGillivray of Chanhassen and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
David confirmed his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior just days before his death. For that we are all grateful as we know we will meet again. "The moment we take our last breath on earth, we take our first in heaven."
In the words of David's Godson Bryan Vos, "Heaven just got more interesting."
A gathering in David's memory will be held at Arlington Haus, 147 W Main St, Arlington, MN, on November 12 from 1pm to 4pm. Per David's request, "No sad sacks allowed - funny or embarrassing stories only." In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations to N.C. Little Hospice House in David's memory are preferred.
