Ruth M. Gelnett, 96, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 in Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool.
She was born May 30, 1911 in Ferguson Valley, Mifflin County, to the late William and Ida M. (Schucht) Kauffman.
She had been employed as a seamstress for Liverpool and Millerstown shirt and dress factories and later for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the licensing bureau, retiring in 1971 from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency; attended Mifflin County schools; was a member of St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, Liverpool, Liverpool fire and ambulance companies; and enjoyed sewing and jewelry.
She was the widow of Clayton B. Gelnett, who died March 1, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Robert C. of Liverpool; a granddaughter, Wendy Burkhart of Millerstown; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Burkhart.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen, Alice and Mary; and two brothers, Edward and "Bud."
Services were held April 10 in George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Liverpool, with the Rev. Rodney W. Lilley officiating and the Rev. Peter H. Kuebler assisting. Burial was in St. John (Barner's) Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the activity fund of Nipple Convalescent Home, 100 S. Front St., Liverpool 17045.
