Nick was a backseat passenger in a car that also took the life of the driver, Jason Pasternak and the front seat passenger, Mark Ryon. Two other passengers survived.

Nicholas Raphael "Nick" Falco III, 22, of La Plata died July 24 at Prince George's Hospital Center as a result of injuries he sustained in a traffic accident near Pomfret.

He was born May 25, 1983, in Clinton and graduated from La Plata High School in 2001. He participated in the school's vocational education program, where he was part of a carpentry team that built a house.

Mr. Falco was a contract network engineer for the U.S. Postal Service in Arlington, Va. In 2003 and 2004, he was an network engineer with Morgan Franklin Corp. in La Plata, assisting with the preparations for the 2004 G-8 summit meeting in Georgia. He also formerly worked for Ledo Pizza in La Plata.

He volunteered cleaning up debris from the tornado that hit Charles County in 2002 and also volunteered with Christmas in April, which preserves and repairs homes for the needy.

A sports car enthusiast, Mr. Falco enjoyed racing his 1989 Toyota Supra at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville. He also enjoyed football.

Survivors include his parents, Pat Pruss of La Plata and Nicholas R. Falco Jr. of Lusby; one sister, Adriana Falco of Arlington; and his grandmother, Carmella Falco of Glen Burnie.

Funeral services were held July 28 at New Life Church in La Plata. Interment is private. Arrangements were by Raymond Funeral Home in La Plata.
