Susan G. (Crowell) Melzer, 58, of Eaton, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was a 1963 graduate of Eaton High School and a 1967 graduate of the University of Cincinnati School of Nursing. She was active in the MR/DD nursing field for over 20 years, and was presently on the Preble County MR/DD Board where she had served for three years. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Jerome "Jerry" E. Melzer; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Larry Miller of Eaton, and Jennifer and Tim Koehl of Colorado; a son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Nina Melzer of Centerville, Ohio; father, Glen L. Crowell of Eaton; sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly Jane Crowell of Indiana, Janet Elaine and Clarence "Buster" Eby of West Alexandria; grandchildren, J.R. Sydney and Owen; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, June Evelyn (Callaway) Crowell.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens, 3377 U.S. 35 East, West Alexandria, with Pastor Wayne Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Preble County Board of MR/DD, or to the American Cancer Society.
