He was born April 13, 1938, in Evart to Otto and Ula (Sample) Sabisch. He attended schools in Evart and Tucson, Ariz., and served in the US Army in Korea from 1957-1959.
He had lived in Tucson from 1948-1971. In 1972, he settled with his family in Hersey Township on his mother's family estate which was established in 1865.
He was married July 22, 1972, to Barbara Sue DuBreuil. Arnie was a loving husband, father and grandfather and took a tremendous pride in his family and heritage.
He was a self-employed welder and repaired neon signs.
Also, he was a "jack of all trades" and went out of his way to help others, asking only that they do something for someone else in return. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Arnie is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 28 years, Barbara; six children, A. DeWayne (Char) Sabisch, Jr. of Kentwood, Michelle Marie (Jeff) Haynes, of Hersey, Renny Jean Sabisch, of Grandville, Shane Otto (Tammy) Sabisch, of Hersey, Scott Howard (Cyndie) Sabisch, of Big Rapids, and Merry Crystal (Mike) White, of Hersey; four sisters, Patricia Pattingale, of Tucson, Ariz., Norma (Kasper) Feltner, of Hersey, Kietha (William) Warren, of Tucson, and LaDona Lee, and friend Al Baker of Hersey; 14 grandchildren and 78 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, May 19, at the Chase-Barton United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne McKenney officiating. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery near Hersey.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to your favorite charity or sent to Barbara for "Arnie's Cove," to help with his final project. Arrangements were made by the McDowell Funeral Home.
