Ray Susong, 76, of Honey Grove, passed away peacefully on 11/7/22 at the San Francisco VA Hospital. His devoted wife and California family surrounded him as the Lord mercifully called him home, and his 10-year battle with multiple cancers ended.

Ray was a proud Veteran, a former Naval Aviator, and a commercial pilot. He was also self-employed for 25 years as a general contractor. He was known for his gregarious smile, outgoing personality, and "can do" and "can fix anything" spirit. He and Kim loved motorcycle riding, timber framing, and traveling to visit family and friends all over the US.

He is survived by his wife Kimberly; sons Keith and Chad; stepsons Rich (Jenny) and Kelly, grandchildren Clinton, Kassidy, Lauren, and Audrey, brothers Ron and Danny of Ohio, and sister Linda (Bill) Spino of Texas. He also considered his friends at Allen's Point Baptist Church to be part of his family.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held on December 19, 2022 at noon at APBC—located at 301 County Rd 2775, Honey Grove—and will be officiated by Kevin Towrey.

Kim and Ray were always so grateful for the excellent care he received from the Northern California VA system/UCSF and the local VA clinic in Bonham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the VA, the APBC building fund, or your favorite charity.
