He was the son of Jacob and Botilda Benson Muench. Leon married Hazel Mildred Gardner in November 18, 1923 in Garden City KS. He was a store manager for Duckwall's in Concordia KS, Lamar CO and finally in Dodge City. He worked for Duckwall's for 42 to 43 years. He was forced to retire in 1960 due to his health. He was a Shriner, Mason and Knights Templar in Dodge City. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City. Besides his widow he left his only daughter, Karen Kay Muench Sites and her two daughters - Hazel Anne and Diedre Elaine Sites. He also left one brother (John of Scott City) and two sisters, Leona (Mrs George Eveleigh) of Hoisington and Glenda (Mrs Bill Owen) of Great Bend.
