Daughter of Sidney Rivers and Rosa Joseph Turner Westbrook. India married Percy Bruce Phillips on June 19, 1947.

COURTLAND– India W. Phillips, 96, a native of Southampton County and a former resident of Sandston, quietly passed into the presence of her Lord July 4, 2011.

Mrs. Phillips was predeceased by her husband, Percy Bruce Phillips; parents, Sidney Rivers and Rosa Jo Westbrook, and her sister, Virginia W. Brooks.

Surviving Mrs. Phillips are her son, Sidney Bruce Phillips (Gayle); 1 step-grandson; and 1 step-great-grandson.

A private graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. July 9, 2011 at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. Wright Funeral Home is assisting the family.
