Mavis E. Schaaf, age 80, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Clark County, SD, passed away on May 21, 2008 at a care center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the widow of Max Leroy Schaaf.

Mavis was born on November 13, 1927 at Raymond, SD to Martin and Minnie (Mehlberg) Lambert.

She married Max Leroy Schaaf on October 19, 1944 in Watertown, SD. The couple lived in the Clark – Watertown area for a few years. In 1958, they moved to Sioux Falls where they lived and raised their family. Max passed away in March of 1992. Mavis continued to make her home in Sioux Falls. She moved into Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls in 2006.

She enjoyed dancing, music, and shopping, especially for shoes. She loved to cook. Family and friends were the most important to Mavis.

She is survived by three daughters: Gloria Jones of Sioux Falls, SD, Delores and her husband, Doug Brush, of Harrisburg, SD, and Sheila and her husband, Thomas Ross, of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Melvin and his wife, Inez Lambert, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; three sisters: Delane Schaaf and LaVonne Marsh both of Sioux Falls, SD, and Genevieve and her husband, Ellsworth Brenden, of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren: Max and his wife, Jessica Jones, Joe and his wife, Amy Jones, Kristina Jones, Wendy and her husband, Tony Jackson, Dorothy and her husband, Brad Knutson, and Thomas Ross; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Max; one daughter, Dorothy; two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Mavis E. Schaaf, age 80, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Clark County, SD will be Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. James Janke will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Mavis' nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be: Rolland Lambert, Ralph Mack, Bob McGuire, Ken Schaaf, Randy Marsh, and Charles Brenden.

Local arrangements are by Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
