ELDORADO SPRINGS, Mo. -- Stella Marie Mosler, 99, of Eldorado Springs, Mo., died 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Community Springs Health Facility in Eldorado Springs, where she had been a resident since the fall of 2005.
She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Faulkner to Fred and Lora (Barrows) McClanahan Sr. She graduated from the American School in 1958.
She married Dewey G. Mosler on Feb. 16, 1927, in Oswego. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1991.
They had been farmers near Oswego for 10 years and then farmed 37 1/2 years south of McCune. During World War II, she worked as an ordinance inspector on the production line at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons. They both retired to Pittsburg in 1976. She moved to Eldorado Springs, Mo., in 2002 to be near her son.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, the Sheridan Home Demonstration Unit, served on the Cherokee County election board and was a 48-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She raised beautiful iris, peonies and purple phlox. She was an excellent cook and greatly enjoyed cooking for her family.
Survivors include her son, Steve Mosler of Parsons; a special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Janet Mosler of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; the mother of her grandchildren, Lana Surridge of Parsons; two granddaughters, Jolene Mosler-Gaier and her husband, Ralph, of Grove, Okla., and Christine Mosler-Parsons and her husband, Doug, of McCune; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Cheney and her husband, Aaron, Steven Brisbin and Stetson Mosler Parsons, all of McCune; a great-great-granddaughter, Skyler Cheney of McCune; a brother, Claud "Pat" McClanahan of Lyons, Ore.; and a sister, Mae "Teny" Boman of Dennison, Texas.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Frank and Fred McClanahan; five sisters, Alice Moon, Peggy Dunn, Georgia Tanner, Rovena Dameron and Patricia Hartman; and a half sister, Letha Chrisman.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday.
The family requests memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church. These may be left at or sent to funeral home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, 66762.
