Marcus was a son of the late Marcus Russell Durlach, Jr. and Jeannette Lorber Durlach.
He served in the United States Navy aboard the Air Craft Carrier, USS Kitty Hawk. Marcus was a partner in Durlach, Ewing, Hungiville Commercial Real Estate in Columbia, SC and in 1979, he founded Durlach Associates Commercial Real Estate in Charleston, SC.
Marcus was an avid sailor and a member of the New York Yacht Club.
He was the husband of Dr. Dana Durlach and surviving, in addition to his dear wife, are two sons, Marcus R. Durlach, IV and wife Marni of Charleston and John R.N. Durlach and wife Megan of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Sally J. Durlach and her fiancé Hamilton Harrelson and Emily N. Durlach all of Charleston; one brother, Richard S. Durlach of Columbia; and one grandson, Neil H. Durlach of Mt. Pleasant.
He was buried at sea.
