Mr. Melcher taught industrial arts at Ulysses High School, USD 214. He was a member of Country View Baptist Church at Ulysses and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
In July 1941, he married Velma Marie Simons. She preceded him in death. In June 1971, he married Sylvia Paasch, who also preceded him in death as did his parents and a stepson, Martin Paasch.
Funeral was at Country View Baptist Church, Ulysses. Burial was in Ulysses Cemetery.
