Obituary from March 24, 1937:
"ILLNESS FATAL FOR PROMINENT LOCAL MATRON"
"Mrs. Katie B. Keim, member of one of Shamokin's earliest and best known families, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sachs, 553 North Sixth St, at 5:30 last evening, following an illness of two months.
Mrs. Keim was first stricken late in January and entered the Geisinger Memorial Hospital, Danville, where she was under observation and treatment until February 2. Returning home she was able to be about until nearly two weeks ago, when an acute attack forced the matron to take to her bed. Her decline thereafter was rapid.
Katie, daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Obenland Bader was born in this city Sept. 4, 1873. Her father was one of Shamokin's pioneer bakery owners, with a place of business on North Rock Street and where her son, Raymond Keim, occupies the original homestead. She was married to William Keim as a young woman. Mr. Keim met death 28 years ago last Monday.
Mrs. Keim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church from childhood and was also a member of the Rev. Dr. William E. Fischer Bible Class of Trinity Sunday School. She was a woman of devout religious faith and was prominently known throughout the community.
Surviving are two children, Raymond and Mrs. Fred Sachs, both of this city; three brothers, Charles and Harry Bader, Shamokin, and William Bader, New York, and a sister, Mrs. J.D. Schlegel, Tamaqua. There are also five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 2:00. with the Rev. Richard B. Martin to officiate. Burial will be in Shamokin Cemetery."
