Rueben was born Nov. 30, 1919 in LaSalle, Colo. the son of William and Anna Marie (Horst) Aschenbrenner. He married his wife of 49 years, Betty Barth in Castle Rock, Colo. on Jan. 17, 1957.
Reuben worked hard as a farmer and truck driver. He worked for many years farming near Ft. Lupton and retired from the Robinson Dairy in Denver. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Alamosa, where they have lived for 20 years. He was an active member of the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa. Rueben enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed home improvement projects, reading, and especially cars.
He is survived by his wife Betty Aschenbrenner of Alamosa; his children Laurie (Glenn) Swanson of Hastings, Neb, Van (Melanie) Aschenbrenner of Arvada, Colo, Liz (Lyle) Hood of Alamosa, Bill (Stella) Aschenbrenner of Albuquerque, NM; brother Al Aschenbrenner of Wheatridge, Colo; sister Mary Bruski of Lakewood, Colo; grandchildren Jimmy Hood, Mary Hood, Lynné (Bren) Workman, Eve (Josh) Shrader, Dena (Matt) Traynor, and Luna Martinez, as well as by four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Graveside services were held at 1 pm Tue, Jan. 29, 2008 at the Alamosa Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 pm at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa.
Contributions are suggested to the River of Life Assembly of God Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
