COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 08/12/1959
The funeral for Henry Joseph Manning, who died at 5:45 p.m. Monday [August 10, 1959] at St. Joseph Infirmary, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, and at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be in St. Edward Cemetery, Jeffersontown. Manning, 68, was a farmer and dairyman at Coxs Creek, Nelson County. He was a Jefferson County native. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sophie Miller Manning; five daughters, Mrs. Louis Tobbe, Mrs. Charles Riggs, Mrs. Mary Crenshaw, Mrs. Bernard Knopp, and Miss Anna Louise Manning; nine sons, George LeeRoy, Arthur Henry, Edward T., John J., Albert A., Thomas L., Merriel J., Louis W. & James R. Manning; six sisters, Mrs. Lena Weber, Mrs. Gus Schaff, Mrs. Clara Hutson, Mrs. Agnes Loyd, Mrs. Regina Pabst and Mrs. Mary Simmons; two brothers, Herman & Edward Manning; 43 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Manning; also survived by 6 sisters, 2 brothers, 43 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
