SILER CITY — Beuna Mae Powers Phillips, 90, of 1376 Glosson Road, Siler City, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 7, at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th, Siler City, NC 27344, with Rev. Bob Boyd and Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was born January 4, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles Herbert and Sarah (Purvis) Powers.

Mrs. Phillips was a loving wife, mother and sister. She was a native of Moore County, a homemaker and was an inspector with Bossong Hosiery Mills, Asheboro. She was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church, the Exi Stone Sunday School Class and helped in the nursery.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Vida Davis; her husband, Richard, of Randleman; a grandson, Christopher Lee Thompson; and a sister-in-law, Anne Powers.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Alton M. Phillips; one daughter, Cathy Phillips Thompson and husband, Bill, of Pittsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Rev. Clinton Powers and wife, Shirley, of Penney Farms, Fla., and Wilton Powers of Bennett, N.C.; one grandson, Jeffrey Michael Thompson of Greensboro, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Loves Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1745 East 11th, Siler City, NC 27344.
