HARDER SERVICES HELD AT ARTOIS
Funeral services were being held this afternoon for Mrs. Mathilda Bay Harder, 89, who died Monday night at her home in Artois after a long illness. She had been a Glenn county resident for 66 years. She was born April 29, 1863, in Hagen, Germany, coming to Artois, then Germantown, when she was 23 years of age.
In May, 1887, she married Claus Bay, who died in 1918. Later she was married to Henry D. Harder, who died in 1938.
Surviving are two children, Herbert Bay and Mrs. Anna Marie Lovett, both of Artois; seven grandchildren and one nephew, Hugo Bauer, of San Francisco.
Funeral services at the Sweet chapel in Willows are being conducted by Rev. C. A. Pickelman, pastor of the Lutheran in Artois, of which Mrs. Harder was a lifelong member. He will also officiate at graveside rites in the family plot at the Artois cemetery.
