On 29 June 1946, "Mazie" married Lee Benedict Schmid at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Saint Joseph, MN; she was age 20, he was 22. Born 10 October 1923 in Avon, MN; Lee was the fourth of five children born to Edward L. & Luella Susan (Roche) Schmid.
"When Mazie moved to Avon following her wedding, she became an active member in her community. She was a dedicated & loyal member of the Saint Benedicts Christian Mothers, and Auxiliary member of the VFW of Saint Joseph, a former religious education instructor and a former girl scout leader.
"Other activities included participating in a Bible Study group, a swimming group, and a ladies card club that met regularly for 43 years! In her leisure time she could often be found sewing, quilting, walking, swimming or traveling. She & Lee just recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary; an achievement they were justly proud of."
