His wife, Mildred Grace Cox preceded him in death on June 26, 1987. Survivors include; three daughters, Betty Dunaway of Wichita, Kansas, Loraine Casey of Oxnard, California, and Charlotte Miles of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Robert Cox of Wichita, Kansas and Leroy Cox of Denham Springs, Louisiana; one brother, Walter Thompson; fourteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Private family funeral services. He was cremated and his ashes were given to the family and were scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
