Emogene P. Langer, 74 year old resident of Pierz, MN, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2001, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at St. Joseph¹s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 on Tuesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel. Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:30 p.m., Parish Prayers at 6:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz.

Emogene was born on June 9, 1927, in Little Falls, MN, to the late Joseph & Bertha (Leidenfrost) Kippley. She grew up in Agram Township and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1946. She attended nurses training at St. Mary¹s Hospital in Rochester. She was united in marriage to Reinhard G. Langer on June 1, 1948, at St. Joseph¹s Catholic Church in Pierz. Together, they farmed east of Pierz, in Hillman Township. The couple retired to Pierz in 1987. Emogene was an active member of the Christian Mothers at St. Rita¹s Catholic Church in Hillman and later at St. Joseph¹s Catholic Church in Pierz. She was also active in St. Joseph¹s Mission Group.

Emogene is survived by her husband, Reinhard of Pierz; daughters, Marella Larson & husband, Dennis R. of Sauk Rapids, and Theresa Gohl & husband, Gary P. of East Bethel; sons, Joe Langer of Faribault, and Tony Langer & wife, Jonelle of Pierz; sister, Romell Welle & husband, Harold of Lastrup; brother, Lloyd Kippley of Pierz; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerome; and five infant children.
