Dean P. Bernarde, age 77, of Weston, died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at his home.

He was born on April 16, 1930 in Wittenberg, the son of the late Jacob and Alma (Schaar) Bernarde.

On September 18, 1954, Dean was united in marriage to Beverly Casetta in Tigerton. She survives.

Dean was a US Army Veteran and was a member of the VFW Post 8895 of Rothschild-Schofield and Weston. He worked at Marathon Electric for 39 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, but most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by his children; Ricky (Kay) Bernarde, Wausau, Lynn (Gary) Marcell, Rothschild, Terry (Tamara) Bernarde, Weston, Scott (Lauren) Bernarde, Lilburn, Georgia and Tod (Darlene) Bernarde, Cottage Grove; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Louise (Ted) Konapka, Sobieski, WI and Rose Schroeder, Pulaski. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his dog, Snoopy.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by several brothers, Don, Edwin, Lawrence, Walt, Gerald, Francis, Jacob, Jr., John, Theodore, William and Richard and one sister, Cecelia Hanson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. The Rev. Allan Slowiak, Pastor at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Rothschild will officiate. Interment will be in St. Philomena Catholic Cemetery, Birnamwood, with Military Rites conducted by the VFW Post 8895 of Rothschild-Schofield and Weston. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00am until the time of services.
