Milton Henry Drechsler, 88, Holton, died Aug. 10, 2008, at a Holton nursing home. He was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Holton, the son of Max K. and Emma Wahl Drechsler. He graduated from Holton High School in 1937. Mr. Drechsler retired from the U.S. Navy in 1958 as a chief warrant officer, and returned to Holton. While in the Navy, he lived in California, Virginia and Hawaii and served during World War II on a submarine. He and his wife owned and operated Bennett Plumbing Company in Holton for several years. He had been a member of VFW Post 1367 in Holton, the Kansas Submariners Organization, and a longtime member of the Holton Lions Club, a Shriner and a Mason. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Holton. He married Doris Lucille Bennett on July 16, 1949, in San Francisco, Calif. She died April 19, 1993. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Bent and Violeta Bowser; and a brother, Max Drechsler. Survivors include a daughter, Emily Metzger, Wichita; a son, Tom Drechsler, Topeka; a sister, LaVerna Slimmer, Holton; and four grandchildren, Taylor and Trevor Metzger and Heidi and Benjamin Drechsler. Memorial services were held Aug. 13 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was in Holton Cemetery.
