Gainesville, Fla. - Mildred Lee Simpson, 88, Gainesville, formerly of Hamilton, Mo., died on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at a hospital in Gaineville.
Born on July 5, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo., to Eugene and Mamie Rentfrow Colville, she had lived in Hamilton since 1959 before moving to Gainesville in 1990.
She had been an elementary education teacher for Hamilton, Kidder and Edgerton, Mo., schools.
She had obtained her B.S. and master's degree in education and attended Park College, William Jewell College and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
On Oct. 12, 1935, she married John Simpson in Nebraska. He preceded her in death.
She had been a member of the Monday Club, DAR and Bridge Club, all of Hamilton; and the Newcomers Club and Alachua County Genealogy Society in Gainesville.
Mildred also was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Katherine Sparr.
Survivors: two sons, Byron, Hamilton; and Kenneth, Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Linda Stemme, Herman, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; brother, Eugene Colville, Topeka, Kan.; and three sisters, JoElla Elliott, Independence, Mo.; Dorothy Jones, North Ridge, Calif.; and Linda Pike, Parkville, Mo.
The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Hamilton Federated Church, Hamilton. Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. (one hour prior) at the church. Interment: Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. Memorials: Cameron Comfort Care Hospice or DAR. Arrangements: Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.
