Viola Marie Palmersheim, 90, of New Hampton, died Saturday, Aug. 16, at Mercy Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1918, in Independence, daughter of Edward and Mabel French Breitbach. She married Joseph Palmersheim on Feb. 1, 1939, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Jerico. He died in 1997.

Mrs. Palmersheim graduated from New Hampton High School in 1934. She worked at various businesses in New Hampton, including Donnelly's Cafe and Kammeyers Grocery. She and her husband farmed and she was later employed by Chickasaw County Extension Service for 25 years. She was a charter member of Happy Homemakers Club.

Survived by: three sons, Jack (Sandra) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jim (Maria) of Omaha, Neb., and Bill (Kathy) of New Hampton; a daughter, Barbara Clemente of Toms River, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Richard (Eileen) Breitbach, both of New Hampton; and a sister, Ruth (Eugene) Schultz of New Hampton.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Catherine; and a brother, Edward Breitbach.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish–St. Joseph's Center, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in New Hampton. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 5 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. scriptural wake service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
