Jared Alan Aldous, 31, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at his residence.

Born in Lynchburg on Nov. 30, 1976, he was a son of Alan Robert Aldous and his wife, Vicky, and Theresa Gail Moon and her husband, Dan.

In addition to his parents, Jared is survived by his fiance , Jennifer Kidd; a stepdaughter, Alexis Hughes; two brothers, Chris Aldous and Jozy Aldous; one sister, Jackie Aldous and her fianc?, Glenn Eisenhauer; and two half brothers, Matthew Moon and Michael Moon. He is also survived by four stepbrothers, Jonathan Moon and his wife, Teresa, Daniel Moon Jr., Ronnie Johnson and his wife, Allison, and Brandon Coffey; two stepsisters, Tracy Gallier and her boyfriend, Chris, and Angela Coffey and her boyfriend, Nick; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mae Aldous of Concord, N.C.; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Furman of Fremont, N.C.; his aunts and uncles, Vickie and Jim Budge of Forest, Monica and Mike Briggs of Fremont, N.C., Mark Aldous and his wife, Carie, of Concord, N.C., and Scott Aldous and his wife, Monica, of Fort Collins, Colo.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jared was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin J. Aldous.

Jared was a graduate of Rustburg High School. He was a machinist with AMG and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a skilled hunter and loved fishing and four wheeling.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2008, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The NRA Foundation Inc., 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030, (800) 423-6894; or Mental Health Association of Central Virginia, 1010 Miller Park Square, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
