LUSCHE, WILLIAM (April 24, 1868 - July 9, 1944) - [The Daily Telegram, July 10, 1944, pg. 3, col. 6]
William Lusche, 76, life-long Platte county resident, died at 2 p.m. Sunday at his home, 10 miles northeast of Columbus. Death resulted from a stroke.
He was born April 24, 1868, in Platte county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lusche. He had always farmed with the exception of three years when he was in the implement business in Columbus. He received his education at St. John's school and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran church of which he was treasurer for six years. For eight years he was moderator of school district No. 2 in Bismark township.
On April 5, 1894, he married Miss Emma Loseke and this year the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Lusche is survived by his wife; four sons, Walter, Gustave, Ernest, and Alfred, all of Columbus; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gerhard Loseke and Mrs. Herman Muhle, both of Columbus; two brothers, George and John Lusche, both of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the family home and at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. Herman Goede, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church in Columbus, will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. when it will be taken to the family home to be until the hour of the service.
