Peter Schneider was born in 1855 in Eckheim, Russia, and departed this life Saturday, July 15, at the age of 84 years, one month and one day, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Ollenberger in Herington. Mr. Schneider joined the Lutheran Church in Eckheim, and remained faithful to his creed until his death. He was a charter member of the Hillsboro Lutheran Church which he helped to build. After moving to Durham, he was a faithful follower and charter member of that church.
Peter Schneider came to this country at the age 21 and settled in Russell County, where in 1880 he married Barbara Entz. In this union was born six children, Mary Henry, Peter, Jacob, Fred and Charles. Peter preceded his father in death. Mr. Schneider moved to Hillsboro where, after the death of his first wife, he married Catherine Elizabeth Heinze, who died in 1923. To this union were born eight children, John, Mildred, George, Mollie, Alvina, Leah, Jonathan and Selma.
Peter Schneider is survived by one brother, Fred, living in Russell, Kansas.
Mr. Schneider was laid in this final resting place beside his wife in the Durham Park Cemetery on July 17, 1939, which act closed his book of life which was dedicated to God.

There was also a son, William Schneider born in 1906 and died in 1916, preceding his father in death. He married Katherine Elizabeth Heinze, Daughter of Reinhardt and Katarine Burdurf Heinze, on April 11, 1894. She died November 1, 1923.

Funeral services for Mr. Peter Schneider were held Monday afternoon at the Durham Lutheran church. Mrs. Schneider was 84 years old. For many years he farmed near Durham, then with his family moved to Durham, and later made his home with his children in Herington, Dickinson County, Kansas.
