Walter Bruce Hembree, 56, of Van Nuys, California, died in Van Nuys Tuesday following a long illness. He was a native of Bridgeport, Alabama, and had resided in California for the last eight years. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are four sons, James Raymond Hembree, Marianna, Arkansas, Walter Bruce Hembree, Jr., Billy Hembree, and Jay W. Hembree, all of Van Nuys, California; daughter, Mrs. Grace Ann Leonard, Los Angeles, California; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Eckles, New Orleans, Louisiana, Mrs. Grace Sistrunk, Coral Gables, Florida, and Mrs. Nancy Lee Henson, Bridgeport, Alabama; two brothers, Paul Hembree, Miami, Florida, and Gene Hembree, Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this morning at 11 o'clock in the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. A. W. Queen officiating. Active pallbearers will be CWO Roy H. Grizall, M/Sgt. Vernon L. Vaughn, M/Cxt. Fillion L. Lillard, SFC Norman E. Herod, SFC Clyde R. Hill and CWO B. L. Wade. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will remain at Turner Funeral Home.
