Peter Hans Norvold, third child in the family of Jacob Hanson Norvold and his wife Marte Soromsei, born July 20, 1842 in Skjedsmo, Norway. He came at age 9 years to America with his parents and two sisters, Sophia and Hellina, and landed in New York Sept 6, 1851. He was married Feb 26, 1862 in Allamakee County Iowa by Rev. Ulrick Wilhelm Koren to Maren Olson Sage, born June 9, 1841. They came to Rock Co. Minnesota November 1877 and homesteaded on Sec 2 in Rose Dell Township where they lived until 1908, when they retired and moved to Jasper, Minnesota where Maren died on Dec 2, 1910. Peter died on Dec 29, 1918. Both are buried in Rose Dell Trinity Lutheran Cemetery east of Jasper, Minnesota.

PETER H. NORVOLD, who lives a retired life at Jasper, has been a resident of Rock and Pipestone counties thirty four years and is one of the highly respected citizens of the village in which he makes his home.
Mr, Norvold was born in Skedsmo, Norway, in 1842. He came to America in 1851 and became a resident of Allamakee county, Iowa, where he purchased land in 1860. He was married in 1862 to Maren Olsen Saga, who emigrated from Christiania, Norway.
To them ten children were born, of whom the following named seven are living: Albert H., of Volga, South Dakota; Herman M., of Luverne; Carl W., who resides with his father in Jasper; Mrs. L. Erickson, of Pipestone county; Mrs. Erick Ansen, Mrs. Oscar Ausen and Mrs. Otto K. Steen, all of Rock county.
Mr. and Mrs. Norvold came to Rock county in the fall of 1877 and the next year filed a homestead claim to the southwest quarter of section 2 and a timber claim to the southeast quarter of the same section, in Rose Dell township. They improved the place and there they resided until 1908, when they, with their son Carl, retired from farm life and moved to Jasper, where they had purchased a home. Mrs. Norvold departed from this life on December 2, 1910, at the age of sixty-nine years.
