Born March 20, 1906, in Sterling to Harry Porter and Ora Grace Puterbaugh Itnyre, she married Clarence J. Neis on Sept. 25, 1926, in Sterling. He died in 1992.
Three brothers also preceded her death.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Martha) Johnson of Edelstein; two sisters, Grace Jones of Temple, Texas, and Lois Bakholt of Grundy Center, Iowa; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She attended Brown's Business College in Peoria.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Peoria, where she worked as the secretary from 1927 until retiring in 1979. She also was a member of the Susanna Circle, the J.O.Y. Class and United Methodist Women, all at the church.
She was past president of Von Steuben School Mothers' Club. She was a board member of Peoria Women's Civic Federation for several years.
She was a member of Chapter D of TTT, Filiae Regis Circle of the International Order of King's Daughters and Son's, Fort Clark Chapter of AARP, YMCA Service Auxiliary, Current Events Club and Peoria Women's Club.
She had delivered Meals on Wheels for the Visiting Nurses Association for the past 20 years and was a volunteer at the Zeller Zone Center Gift Shop.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her church. The Rev. Dr. W. Kenneth Pyles will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave. Private family burial will be in Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein.
