Helena O Kroeker was born in the Ukraine, South Russia August 11, 1870.

Her father was Rev Bernhard Kroeker, and her mother was Katharina Ott Kroeker. She and her parents came to America when she was 8 years old in 1878. The family settled in Henderson, Nebraska.

Helena married Peter J Fast on February 26, 1889 in the home of her father and mother-in-law Jacob and Elizabeth Thiessen Fast, Henderson, Nebraska. The sod house bacame their home where they lived and helped for about 3 years.

Then with the parents, Kroeker's and others they moved to Colorado and lived here for about 5 years. They then moved with the parents Kroeker to Texas.

In 1900 there was the big Galveston storm where Helena's mother Katherine Ott Kroeker was killed. After 7 years they moved to Jansen, Nebraska. They lived in Jansen about 9 years then moved with family to Litchfield, Nebraska. Subsequent moves were to Paxton, Nebraska, Henderson, Nebraska and then to Dallas, Oregon, where they picked hops, strawberries, and cherries.

Husband Peter J Fast died at the age of 81 years in February 20, 1947. Helena lived alone close to the children until she was 90 years old. The last 5+ years of her life she stayed with daughter Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Jacob T (Jake) Thiessen until she died September 14, 1966, at the age of 96 years.

Helena's main desire was that all should accept the Lord and live for Him.
