William Aberle, 89, of Tolland Stage Road, Tolland, beloved husband of Viola Aberle, passed away on Tuesday (October 7, 2008) at Rockville General Hospital surrounded by loving family.

He was born on February 2, 1919 in Rockville to the late Louise Bar and Henry Aberle, Sr. A lifelong resident of Tolland County, William was well known and well liked. An avid hunter and lover of the outdoors, he was a lifelong member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club. His career in construction began at an early age and after a long deserved retirement, he enjoyed farming and raising cattle to keep busy. William was humorous and at times, mischievous, but always generous of spirit and kind to his fellow man. The names YaYa and Papa have special meaning and describe a man larger than life we now hold in our hearts- you will be forever missed.

William Aberle was preceded in death by his wife Viola Aberle; a son William Aberle, Jr.; two sisters, Hilda Hany and Caroline Gottier; and two brothers, Carl and Edwin Aberle. Those left to treasure his memory include two daughters, Charlotte Auclair and her husband Roy of Tolland and Cora Lambert and her husband Dana of Vernon; a son, Alfred Aberle of Rockville; three sisters, Louise Fehr of Illinois, Elsa Hoffman and Martha Luginbuhl both of Ellington; two brothers, Henry Aberle of Ellington and Emil Aberle of Vernon; nine grandchildren, David, Monica, Aaron, Michele, Heather, Kelly, Colleen, William, and Cassie; and eight great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating the life of William Aberle will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11 in Ladd-Turkington and Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, CT.
Interment will follow in South Cemetery in Tolland.
