Ingrid, age 73, died at her home on Old Fluvanna Road. She was the daughter of Hans P. and Margerete Banse. She earned her doctorate in 1957 from the University of Heidelberg, completed her internship at Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, and her residency at South Nassau Hospital. She practiced family medicine at the Infantry Center of Ft. Benning, in Europe, retired from private practice in Bemus Point in 2000, and served as medical director of Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility.

She is survived by her husband, Ret. Col. Frederick V. Banse-Fay, her children, Ralph Banse-Fay, Eric Banse-Fay, Monica Dean, Karen Higgs, and Christel Tynan, and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jurgen P. Banse-Fay.
