Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock this Thursday morning for Mrs. J. F. Wieskus at St. Joseph's Catholic church with the Rev. O. A. Dentlinger officiating at the mass. Burial was in the family lot at Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Wieskus passed away at the Spirit Lake hospital at 6:50 o'clock Monday evening after a few days illness with gall bladder trouble and heart complications. Mrs. Wieskus was taken ill Wednesday morning and a physician called. For a time she seemed better but on Friday noon she was taken to the Spirit Lake hospital, where she failed to respond to medical treatment and passed away Monday evening.

Mrs. Wieskus was a quiet, home-loving woman, who took a great deal of pleasure in having her family and friends gather at her home. She was a member of St. Joseph's church and of the Catholic Mother's club.

Johanna Elizabeth Kathmann was born in Bakum, Germany, Jan. 19, 1878, and died at Spirit Lake hospital Monday, Nov. 13, 1944 at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 24 days. She was one of six children born to Bernard and Elizabeth Kathmann. She came to America with her parents when a small child and the family settled in Carroll county, where she attended the parochial school at Templeton and where she grew to young womanhood. On April 27, 1896, she was united in marriage to John Frank Wieskus at Templeton. To this union 10 children were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Wieskus preceded here in death on Dec. 2, 1938. After their marriage Mr. and Mr. Wieskus continued to reside in Carroll county until March 1, 1913. At that time they moved to Milford and for a time lived on the farm south of Milford now owned by Joe Langel. The family have since lived on various farms in the vicinity of Milford. In 1940 Mrs. Wieskus moved to Milford and made a home with her two sons, Fred and Leo, until the latter was called to service Nov. 26, 1942. Since that time she has continued to make a home for Fred. Leo is now with a tank division in Italy. He was never able to get home on furlough since in service and went overseas without seeing his mother again.

Mrs. Wieskus is survived by six sons and four daughters: Frank, Henry and John of Jackson Minn; Bernard of Milford; Fred at home, and Leo in service: Anna, now Mrs. John Maras of Windom, Minn.; Mrs. Clara Sundstrom and Lorine, now Mrs. Alfred Wedeking of Milford, and Bernice Wieskus of Sherburne, Minn. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, a sister and two brothers. Her sister, Mrs. Nick Oblinger, and a brother, Frank Kathmann, reside at Templeton and the other brother, Barney Kathmann, at Carpenteria, Calif.
