Dorothy Dean Hall Nebel, known to most people as "Dot" Nebel, died quietly and at peace last Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, just five minutes and two days before her 96th birthday. Dot had been recently asked about this upcoming birthday. She said she was "going to skip it this year."

Dot was born in Russellville, Ark. on Oct. 4, 1912, to Hanes and Winifred Hall. Her family later purchased a farm in Worland, where Dot graduated from high school in 1931. Dot met the love of her life at a dance that summer. In her words, "We met, we danced and we fell in love. The chemistry between us was terrific...Joseph Harvey Nebel and I were married after a whirlwind courtship of six months...: on April 1, 1932, in Billings.

Dot and Harvey had two children. A son Rex was born in 1947 and their daughter Cameron in 1950. Later, when Rex was married his wife Cher would know what Dot's own kids took for granted: the unconditional love of a mother. Dot considered Cheryl one of her own children and Cher loved her deeply and was inspired by her in many ways. Dot always said she had "two daughters now." This love for others and wanting the best for others was extended to most everyone she met in her life.

Her husband, Harvey, and her daughter, Cher, preceded Dot in death.

In addition to her children, Dot has four grandsons: Joshua, Jared, Jebediah and Pierce; two granddaughters, Megan and Meredith, and one great-granddaughter, Taelor Rec.

Burial will take place at the Lovell Cemetery immediately following the service. At Dot's request there will be no viewing and she wanted to "keep it short."

Like all of us, Dot was just passing through. May we pass through as she has with love for our fellow travelers, giving inspiration and comfort to those who cross our path.
