Norman J. Knapp, age 85, King, formerly of New London, was called to eternal rest on Monday, October 13, 2008, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Norman was born on June 24, 1923, in Maple Creek Township, son of the late John F. and Esther E. (Frank) Knapp.

He was a faithful Christian and regularly attended services at Grace Lutheran Church, Sugar Bush, where he was a member. Norman lived with his parents in the Town of Maple Creek until 1999 when he sold the farm.

He was employed at the Borden Company (now Saputo Cheese), New London, for 41 years, retiring in 1988. He played softball in his younger years and loved bowling, dancing, playing cards and was an avid sports fan. Norman served his country in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a son, Dan Burton, Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister, Pearl Reetz, New London. Nieces and nephews: Janet (David) Westphal, Fond du Lac; Dennis (Karin) Roff, Spread Eagle; Judy Eckhart, Appleton; Verlea (Lawrence Sr.) Potter, New Braunfels, Texas; Deborah (Gene) Zappaterno, Troy, Montana; Rebecca (David) Roehl, Racine; Mark (Ann) Gitter, Boerne, Texas. Fourteen great nieces and nephews: Kevin (Patti) Westphal; Barry (Peggy) Roff; Lori (Kurt) Hardie; Todd (Kim) Roff; Carol (Dale) Llanto; Larry Jr. (Chris) Potter; Jaimie (Dan) Davis; Christina (Ethan) Fairbrother; Shari Roehl; Scott (Marie) Roehl; Michael (Valerie) Roehl; Daniel Roehl; Jonathan Gitter; and Adam Gitter. He is further survived by numerous great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Norman is preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Roff (2007), Lois Gitter (1976), a daughter, Tami Lea (1961), a nephew, Wayne Roff (1940), brothers-in-law: Leonard Roff, Earl Eckhart, Rueben Reetz and Gerald Gitter.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stordock Hall, 2nd floor, King; for all the "Special Care" they gave to our beloved brother and uncle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to, Grace Lutheran Church, F.V.L. or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services for Norman will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sugar Bush, with Rev. F.K. Berger officiating. Burial will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery, Town of Maple Creek. Military Rites will be held. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
