Mrs. Velma L. Schuricht, 95, of Chebanse, Illinois passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Presence Merkle-Knipprath Catholic Home at Clifton, Illinois.

Burial will follow the services at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse, IL. Memorials in her name should be for the Zion Lutheran Church of Chebanse or the Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Mrs. Schuricht was born December 18, 1920 at Chebanse the daughter of William and Maud Kent Barnett, her parents are deceased.

She married Ewald A. Schuricht on September 30, 1939 at the family farm in rural Chebanse, he preceded her in death on September 23, 1989.

She is survived by a son and daughter in law Stephen “Sandy” and Kim Schuricht of Chebanse. There are two grandchildren, Shane (Charlotte) Schuricht of Mt. Olive, Illinois and Stephanie (Nick) Baudino of Manteno, Illinois. There are nine great grand children, they are Kaitlyn, Collin, Allison and Griffin Schuricht, Ethan, Ava and Owen Pequette and Anthony and Alex Baudino. In addition Mrs. Schuricht is survived by numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by her brother, Elwood Barnett.

Mrs. Schuricht was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse and was very active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Lutheran Womens Missionary League. She was a 1938 graduate of Chebanse High School. She assisted her late husband in all of his professional duties. She enjoyed sewing and doing needle work. She loved all flowers and flower gardening. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed being with and talking about her family.
