A distressing accicent occured on the Gluck farm near Platte Center last Wednesday afternoon, when the ten year old son of Mr. & Mrs. John Borchers was instantly killed. The lad was in the field following his father behind the seeder. In his play the little fellow climbed upon the machine, from which position he fell upon the hitchalong apparatus. It frightened a young horse which was hitched to the machine and he gave a sudden start forward, catching the boys neck between the levers and breaking it. Mr. Borchers did not realize the serious nature of the accident and immediately consulted a surgeon who said that death was probably instantaneous. The boy was the oldest child.
