Mr. Bielke was on the New Auburn Creamery Association Board of Directors for about 12-years. He was also very active in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Gaylord and presently, Mr. Bielke was also active in work of Zion Lutheran Church of Arlington.
He farmed for about 40-years in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, retiring in 1979. He remained on the farm site until his death.
Born May 12, 1911 in New Auburn Township, Walter Bielke was one of triplet children born to Frank and Martha (Rettig) Bielke. His two brothers died shortly after birth. Following his graduation from Gaylord High School, he attended Business School in Minneapolis for three years.
Mr. Bielke was united in marriage with Linda Peterman June 8, 1938 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of New Auburn, Mn.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Walter Steven and Vicki Bielke of Prior Lake; three grandsons, namely; Joshua and Zachary Bielke; one brother Helmuth Bielke of Edina and three sisters, Mrs. Walter (Gertrude) Gilsemeister, Northfield; Mrs. Leona Samuelson, Gaylord and Mrs. Freda Stresemann of Winthrop besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Interment was in High Island Cemetery, New Auburn, with graveside service at 1:30 o’clock. Casket bearers were Karl Gildemeister, Kim Stresemann, Dennis Stresemann, Sidney Samuelson, Mike Samuelson and Richard Bielke.
Fenske Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
