Suddenly, on June 4, 1973, at Cafritz Hospital, Robert Ryon Downing, beloved husband of the late Ruth D. Downing; father of Robert Ryon Downing, Jr., Gordon D. Downing and B. Dent Downing; brother of Mrs. Margaret Duvall, Mrs. Esther Duvall, Mrs. Anona Duvall, Mrs. Cora Lee Burke and Mrs. Mildred Baden. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. Private funeral services for the immediate family will be held at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Croom, Md, on Tuesday, June 5, 1973, at 3 p.m. Interment church cemetery. Friends may attend the memorial service at St. Thomas Church, Croom, Md., on Thursday, June 7, 1973 at 7 p.m. in lieu of flowers, friends may send contributions to the American Heart Association.
