Wanda Lee Mathews, 78, Shawnee, KS passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Wanda was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Bonner Springs, KS to Huron A. and Margaret (Oelschlaeger) Lingo. Wanda and her husband, James opened the Carpet Corner in 1968 in the Kansas City metropolitan area. She retired in 2004. Wanda was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Mathews May 29, 1998 and her sister Mae Meyer. Survivors include her three daughters, Rebecca Hipsher, Kansas City, KS, Janice Mathews, Parkville, MO and Barbara (Doug) Earp, Lenexa, KS; three sons, James M. (Barbara) Mathews, Eudora, KS, Jeffery (Teri) Mathews, Smithville, MO and Michael (Leslie) Mathews, Shawnee, KS; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
