Meta was the daughter of Volkert Johannsen and Sophie Berger. She married Hans Harter on October 24, 1904 in Ida Co, IA. They were the parents of four sons: Volkert, Oscar, Hans and Herbert.

The Battle Creek Times - Thursday , January 1st, 1953 - Dies December 26 - Mrs. Meta Harder died Friday evening, December 26, in the Battle Creek hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 29, in St. John's Lutheran church with Pastor W.H. Jafike, officiating. Mrs. Carl Christiansen and Mrs Elmer Jessen arranged the flowers. The hymns: "I'm But A Stranger Here" and "Forever With The Lord" were sung by La Donna and Norma Putzier, LaMae Jessen, Mrs Virgil Johnson, Mrs. Delaine Linn and Mrs. Frederick Griesse with Mrs. A.L. Strackbeln at the organ. Pallbearers were Paul Rehse, Fred Hansen, Charles Johannsen, Henry Ehler, Harry Seehusen and Henry Welfenbach. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery under the direction of the Christensen Funeral Home.

Meta Louise Johannsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Volkert Johannsen, was born June 15, 1885 In Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized in the Christian faith in October, 1886, was confirmed in 1900, and remained a member of the Lutheran church the rest of her life.

In October, 1904, she was united in marriage to Hans Harder who has preceded her in death. A son, Herbert, died in 1951.

Mrs. Harder continued to live on the farm until the spring of 1951 when she moved to Battle Creek. She died at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 19 days.

Survivors are 3 sons: Volkert, Hans and Oscar; 5 grand daughters and 2 great grandchildren.

Ida County Pioneer Record - Thursday , January 8th, 1953 - ADMINISTRATOR’S NOTICE Notice is hereby given that the undersigned has been appointed and qualified as Administrators of the estate of Mrs. Meta Harder late of Ida County, Iowa, deceased. All persons in any manner indebted to said Estate will make immediate payment to the undersigned, and those having claims against the Estate will file them with the Clerk of the District Court of Ida County, Iowa, as provided by law authenticated, for allowance. Dated December 30th, 1952 Volquart Harder and Oscar Harder Administrators Ray G. Walter Attorney for Adm.
