Maria Anna was born in Mösbach, Baden, Germany to Franz "Josef" Birk 1787-1827 & Katharina Jägle 1785-1845. She married Moritz Klump in Mösbach on July 22, 1844. They had 6 children together: Amalia, Anna Maria, Gustave, Ludwig, Alois? & Amand. Her husband was mayor of Mösbach. He emigrated illegally in 1853. She and the children stayed behind. He sent for them two years later. Maria Anna brought the children over by herself. One child died on the way over on the ship and is buried at sea-the youngest child named for her husband, Moritz.
After Maria Anna's death, Moritz married a widow named Maria Anna Gutman. He's buried with his second wife at St Joseph Cemetery in Wilder. He has no stone.
